The Airport Authority has a strong commitment to air quality. We are an active partner in the Greater Vancouver Regional District's (Metro Vancouver) ambient air quality management program. To see the results of air quality monitoring, visit the Metro Vancouver's website at:

Road traffic has been identified as the single largest producer of air emissions on Sea Island, consistent with the rest of the Lower Mainland. We are doing our part to reduce these emissions by encouraging alternatives to the single occupancy vehicle and examining ways to reduce the impacts from our own vehicle fleet.

The burning of fossil fuels and use of electricity produce emissions to our atmosphere, including greenhouse gas emissions. The Airport Authority is working hard to reduce the amount of energy consumed. This makes both business and environmental sense. The Airport Authority is recognized as a Power Smart certified business. The airport authority maintains an internal committee focused on identifying energy reduction opportunities and educating airport staff on energy conservation.
