The Airport Authority has adopted a set of Design Guidelines that provide a set of rules to govern future
development of land and buildings at the airport. The Airport Authority is committed to making the airport
an attractive as well as functional facility.
The Design Guidelines contain guidance on:
- Physical situation of buildings
- Parking lots
- Fences and trees -- so as to maintain, whenever possible, sight lines to the Coast Mountain range,
and to the aircraft and terminal
- Landscaping guidelines -- so as to maintain and enhance the Pacific Coastal setting of the airport
- External surface materials to be used on buildings and other structures
- Use of landscaping to minimize noise impacts
- Maintenance of corridors for future mass transit, for high priority future aeronautical uses, etc.
