Presented by Lorne Balshine with the Arctic Art Museum Society.
The Arctic Art Museum Society was created to increase public awareness and appreciation of Arctic art by presenting exhibitions and educational programs with the goal of establishing a permanent Arctic Art Museum in Vancouver. The works are organized into themes: Wildlife, Survival, Traditional Beliefs, Family Life and Acculturation.
The current exhibit is a selection of sculptures from the Lorne Balshine Collection of Inuit Sculpture assembled during the past 30 years and now recognized as an important Canadian heritage collection.
This body of Masterworks is suggested as a founding collection, available for a sponsor, to acquire and secure towards establishing a new Arctic Art Museum - as a viable cultural attraction and welcome addition to Vancouver's public amenities.
The current exhibition is in a secure section of the airport accessible only to travellers in the Domestic Terminal Departures, Area Level 3.
